Branding is an integral part of
a winning business strategy.
Branding is the determining
factor that identifies a business, product or person from another in a given
environment.
From a business environment
point of view, how do we transform business brands in order for them to gain
competitive advantage?
B. Build Business Strategy
Know the mission, vision and
objective of the business, product or person. Have a timeline to achieve these
and make them measurable. After this is done, a purpose will begin to emerge
for the brand.
R. Research
Do a market research to know more
about the competition’s brand, their successes and failures. Establish a target
audience and know about their behavioral traits. Understand the needs of your
audience, how it relates to the brand you are building and how you are going to
meet these needs.
A. Advocacy
As a brand your biggest advocates
should be those with whom you have direct dealings with. If they believe in
your brand, it’s then easier for others to do same. Employees and customers can
be a brands’ biggest advocates. Reward them for loyalty. Actively engage your
audience through the appropriate platforms.
N. Narrate
Communication is key and a brand
should tell a story of your business. Create a tagline and logo. The voice of
your brand should have a simple and clear message and fully integrated into the
entire business strategy. Choose the right platforms which will exhibit and
promote your brand and use different platforms to communicate it.
D. Distinctive
Businesses, products or persons
need to be distinguished easily from their competitors by their brand. Design
and content should be exclusive and consistent. Create a niche. What do you
offer that others don’t? Monitor brand strategy periodically to stay relevant
and be responsive to change.
